Our story

It started with a press and a stack of cane.

A move to a plant-based lifestyle led Jordan King-Burrowes back to a drink loved across the Caribbean, Africa and Asia: fresh sugar cane juice.

In March 2025 we opened our first stall at Portobello Market, with Jordan’s dad by his side. People stopped, tasted and came back, and we regularly sold out.

Every cup is pressed to order from whole sugar cane, so you can watch it happen.

What goes in

Three real ingredients.

Nothing artificial and naturally vegan.

Sugar cane

Whole stalks, pressed to order through our cane press.

Ginger

Fresh root for warmth and a little fire.

Lime

A squeeze of zest to lift the sweetness.

≈ 18 cups from every 10 kg stack of cane, pressed on the spot.

Strangers stopped to watch the cane go through the press, tried a cup, and came back the next Saturday. We regularly sold out.

What’s next

We are growing our own cane with family in Morogoro, Tanzania, so we can bring Sweet Like Cane to more markets, shops and bars.
